Hamden, CT – Public Works Director, Craig Cesare, and Mayor Curt Leng, regret to announce to Hamden residents that the Transfer Station will no longer be open on Saturdays. This change is needed because the recently approved Legislative Council Fiscal Year 2020-2021 budget partially defunded operational accounts which support weekend staffing at the Transfer Station. Due to these reductions in funding, operations will unfortunately be curtailed.
The Hamden Transfer Station is located at 231 Wintergreen Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518 and is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m. The Transfer Station will be closed in observation of the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Day, Lincoln’s Birthday, Washington’s Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Social Distancing Restrictions due to COVID-19, including "waiting in queue" for residents to finish unloading debris, are in-place. Contractors disposing of debris will be logged by staff and are expected to pay any accrued fees.
Residents with questions regarding the Transfer Station may reach Hamden Public Works at 203-287-2600 or visit www.hamden.com.
