On February 17th Roger Wilkinson, 62, walked away from Garden View Manor, 1840 State Street in Hamden. Wilkinson, who left the rest home with a suitcase and a backpack, left his life sustaining medicine behind.
Wilkinson has left Garden View Manor in the past. According to reports, Wilkinson enjoys going to the New Haven Public Library and the city green. He has lodged in a motel room in the past.
Hamden Police and Garden View Manor staff are concerned with the fact that Wilkinson left several medications behind. Anyone who has seen Wilkinson or knows of his whereabouts are asked to contact the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4040.

On February 17th at approximately 3:00p.m. Hamden Police received multiple 911 calls relating to a fight in progress in the area of Mill Rock Road.
Investigation revealed that a 23 year-old Hamden resident was walking to an apartment on Mill Rock Road, when an individual who was known to her, approached. The individual, Immanuel Golett, allegedly had a knife in his possession. Golett allegedly pushed the victim to the ground, emptied the contents of her pocketbook, and began assaulting her. As she attempted to protect herself, she was again allegedly thrown to the ground and assaulted. The female victim reported that she was not injured during the incident.
Officer Ronald Glifort, who was the investigating officer, arrested Golett, who was in the area of the crime scene. The knife allegedly used in the incident was recovered in a nearby park.
Hamden Police arrested:
Immanuel Golett, 24, of 409 Mill Rock Road, Hamden. He was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Threatening in the 2nd Degree and Breach of Peace. Golett, who was detained at police headquarters on a $10,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on February 21st.

On February 13th Hamden Police responded to an east side residence on the report of suspicious activity.
The 92 year-old resident advised officers that at approximately 3:00p.m. an individual, who advised her that he worked for a utility company, entered her residence. She further advised officers that she does not believe anything was taken.
The individual was described as a Hispanic male, clean-shaven, wearing a green uniform.
The Hamden Police Department would again like to make the public aware of these types of potential schemes. On February 10th at approximately 5:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to a complaint of a street robbery, which occurred in the area of 1125 Dixwell Avenue.
Investigation revealed that a 19 year-old Hamden resident was approached by 2 individuals, who demanded his belongings. They subsequently threw the victim to the ground, while stealing money from his wallet. The individuals fled on bicycles, southbound on Dixwell Avenue. The victim suffered a knee injury.
The individuals responsible for the robbery are described as dark-skinned males, approximately 17 years of age, with a medium build. One of the males had short braided hair.

On February 8th at approximately 11:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to 7 Mattes Road on a suspicious activity complaint.
The complainant advised police that a relative, Kenneth Lupoli , was producing explosives within the residence. He further advised police that he believed that Lupoli was making fireworks.
Investigation led to the search of 7 Mattes Road. Officers seized evidence of illegal possession and manufacturing of explosives. The seized items included a large amount of illegal fireworks, manufacturing/packaging materials, mortar tubes and various types of powders, which are used in explosives.
The Hamden Police Department was assisted by the Hamden Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad.
Hamden Police arrested:
Kenneth Lupoli, 49, of 7 Mattes Road, Hamden. On January 30th Hamden Police responded to a Woodin Street address on the report of a burglary.
Investigation revealed that an individual entered the residence via an unlocked sliding glass door. Once inside, ski equipment was stolen. The value of the ski equipment was estimated at $725.00.
Detective Angelo DeLieto conducted an investigation, which led him to apply for an arrest warrant for Laurance Bardinelli.
On February 8th Detective DeLieto and Detective Brian Stewart arrested Bardinelli in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters.
Hamden Police arrested:
Laurance Bardinelli, 24, of 1 Castlewood Drive, Monroe. He was charged with Larceny in the 5th Degree. Bardinelli, who was detained on a $10,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on February 22nd.

On January 31st at approximately 12:25a.m. a Hamden Police Officer observed a motor vehicle violation in the area of Bowen Street. The officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle fled through southern Hamden, New Haven, as well as Interstate 95.
During the pursuit, a Hamden Police Officer deployed “stop sticks” on Ella Grasso Boulevard in New Haven. The operator of the vehicle, Quintel Penn, subsequently eluded the device and nearly struck the officer, who had to jump to safety.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle struck a residential home, 91 Winchester Avenue in New Haven. A resident was subsequently injured and transported to the hospital. Penn exited the vehicle and fled on foot, eluding Hamden Police.
Immediately following the accident, Hamden Police conducted further investigation, which revealed that Penn had continuously violated a court-ordered protective order to cease contact with his girlfriend. Penn was driving her vehicle, the same vehicle that crashed into 91 Winchester Avenue.
On February 8th Detective Raymond Quinn and several members of the United States Marshal Service Task Force concluded an extensive investigation and arrested Penn at 25 Ward Street. Penn had run into Unit 202, hiding in a closet, covering himself in debris.
Hamden Police arrested:
Quintel Penn, 34, of 985 Winchester Avenue, Hamden. He was charged on the strength of 2 arrest warrants.
The first warrant involved the pursuit. Penn was charged with Criminal Attempt at Assault of an Officer, Interfering With an Officer, Reckless Driving and Engaging an Officer in Pursuit. He was detained on a $500,000 bond.
The second warrant involved the violation of the protective order. Penn was charged with Criminal Violation of a Protective Order and Criminal Trespass in the 1st Degree. Penn was held on an additional $500,000 bond.
Penn was transported to Superior Court in Meriden today.
Hamden Police previously arrested Quintel Penn on January 12th 2012, stemming from 3 domestic violence incidents. The charges included Strangulation in the 3rd Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 2nd Degree, Interfering With an Emergency Call and Burglary in the 2nd Degree.
A State Police Record Check indicates that Penn has been arrested 17 times, dating from August 1996 to the present. Prior to today, Penn has been arrested on various charges, including the Sale of Narcotics; various Assault charges, as well as 3 incidents involving Escape From Custody. He was arrested for Escape From Custody in 2005 by the Waterbury Police Department, 2009 by the Hamden Police Department and most recently January 13th by the New Haven Police Department.

Investigation revealed that a 21 year-old Hamden resident was texting, while riding on a Connecticut Transit bus. An individual, described as a dark-skinned male, 16 to 18 years of age, 5’7”, thin build, wearing a black hoodie and dark-colored jeans, grabbed her cell phone and exited the bus. The victim chased the individual on foot. He was last observed running southbound on Garden Street.

On February 5th at approximately 8:15p.m. Officer John Glass of the Hamden Police Department responded to WalMart, 2300 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a larceny in progress.
Upon arrival, officers detained Jeffrey Dancey, who was walking away from the store, through the parking lot.
Investigation revealed that Dancey allegedly approached an unattended cash register and attempted to open it. Upon failing, he proceeded to retrieve 2 claw hammers from the shelf. He then returned to the cash register and attempted to force it open. That after again failing to open the cash register, Dancey returned the hammers to their proper location.
Hamden Police arrested:

On December 29, 2011, Officer Beatriz Montijo of the Hamden Police Department met with a 41 year-old West Haven resident and a New Haven Police Officer regarding a harassment complaint.
Investigation revealed that the victim had filed an earlier criminal complaint to the New Haven Police Department against Ruben Jimenez.
On December 3rd, while in Hamden, the victim received a text message, allegedly from Jimenez, which depicted a photograph of a firearm. That after further investigation, Officer Montijo submitted an arrest warrant to the court for Jimenez.
On February 1st Hamden Police arrested Jimenez at Meriden Superior Court. Jimenez, 40, of 27 Sanford Street, West Haven, was charged with Intimidating a Witness, Threatening, Harassment and Breach of Peace. He was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court on February 1st.

On January 28th Hamden Police responded to a Blake Road residence on the report of a home invasion.
Investigation revealed that an 85 year-old female resident answered a knock at her front door. An individual, described as a white male, “young, small and slim”, wearing a brown jacket, advised her that he worked for the water company. The individual told the elderly resident that a water main had broken and that her drinking water had been contaminated. They then walked around the house.
Moments later, the individual stated that he needed to enter her home to examine the basement. A second individual then attempted to enter. The first individual, who was in the possession of a hand-held radio, then proceeded to the basement with the resident for approximately 10 minutes.
A short time thereafter, the homeowner’s neighbor entered her home and called out her name. The individual in the basement subsequently fled up the stairs and out of the house. Located on the front steps, officers found 2 bags containing silver items.
Further investigation revealed that the 2 individuals stole at least 2 bags of personal belongings. They entered a vehicle, described as a “white SUV type.” The vehicle contained a third individual, described as a female with longer hair. The vehicle, which had dark tinted windows, fled westbound on Blake Road.
The keen observation of the neighbor may have prevented a larger scale theft and/or a physical assault from occurring.

On January 28th at approximately 1:00a.m. Officer Robert Manfield of the Hamden Police Department observed an unregistered motor vehicle traveling northbound on Dixwell Avenue. He subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop on Dixwell Avenue at Pine Street.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Manfield detected the strong odor of marijuana, emanating from it. Investigation led to the search of the vehicle. Officers located a bag of marijuana, containing 20.1 grams inside. Furthermore, officers seized $1,250.00 that was in the possession of the operator of the vehicle, Matthew Bowden.

Matthew Bowden, 39, of 215 Division Street, New Haven. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Failure to Renew Registration and No Insurance. Bowden, who was detained on a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on February 8th.

On January 25th at approximately 8:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to Kohls Department Store, 2380 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a shoplifting.
Investigation revealed that store security observed Sandra Torres-Perez and Teresa Flores exit the store with nearly $800 in merchandise. Torres-Perez and Flores, who were accompanied by 3 children, ages 6, 12 and 13, allegedly instructed the 6 year-old to exit the store with a purse full of stolen items. The 6 year-old was also wearing stolen sneakers. Furthermore, the 12 year-old was allegedly told to exit the store with a duffel bag containing stolen items.
Hamden Police arrested:

Teresa Flores, 39, of 22 Dewitt Street, New Haven. She was charged with Larceny in the 5th Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 5th Degree and 3 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor. On January 23rd at approximately 10:15a.m. Hamden Police responded to 94 Second Street on the report of an attempted burglary.
Upon arrival, Officers found damage to the rear kitchen door, including a broken window. Furthermore, Officers spoke with a resident, Anthony Johnson, who stated that someone had attempted to gain entry into his home.
Officer Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner “Titan” conducted a search, which ended at the damaged kitchen door. Officers then determined that Johnson had made a false complaint. Further investigation revealed that Johnson had a verbal disagreement with a female, at which time the female intentionally broke the window. Hamden Police subsequently arrested Johnson.

On January 20th at approximately 7:45p.m. Hamden Police responded to Bon Ton, 2300 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a shoplifting.
Investigation revealed that Lakhiya Williams-Moore allegedly proceeded to the fitting room and concealed approximately $600 in merchandise. She then attempted to exit the store, accompanied by her daughter, Shaurice Council and her 4 year-old son.
As they passed all points of payment, they were approached by store security. Both Williams-Moore and Council then allegedly began assaulting 2 security officers. They were arrested shortly thereafter.

On April 26th Hamden Police responded to a Webb Street address on the report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers found the 45 year-old female resident bleeding profusely from the head.
Investigation revealed that her boyfriend, Clarence Milton Jr. continuously punched her in the face and then strangled her. Hamden Fire Rescue treated her at the scene. Milton had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.
That after unsuccessful attempts at locating him, Hamden Police contacted the United States Marshal Service Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force. For several weeks, task force members were unable to locate him.
On January 18th, Hamden Police Detective Raymond Quinn and other task force members found Milton at 4 Lodge Street in New Haven. He was subsequently arrested and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Clarence Milton Jr. 41, of 4 Lodge Street, New Haven. He was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Strangulation in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 2nd Degree, Threatening and Disorderly Conduct. On December 22nd at approximately 8:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to 75 Park Avenue on the report of criminal mischief.
Officers discovered 6 holes in the exterior siding of the house. Further investigation revealed that damage was sustained to the interior of the residence. A number of bullets struck several walls and the refrigerator. The residence was vacant at the time.
Hamden Police Detectives conducted an investigation and subsequently submitted an arrest warrant to the court.
On January 12th, Michael Coughlin, 30, of 69 Park Avenue, Hamden, turned himself in to police custody. He was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm and Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree. Coughlin, who was released on a Written Promise to Appear, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on January 25th.

On May 30th 2011 Hamden Police responded to 985 Winchester Avenue on the report of a domestic dispute.
Investigation revealed that Quintel Penn allegedly threw his pregnant girlfriend onto the ground and began choking her. His girlfriend attempted to contact police, however, Penn allegedly damaged the phone by smashing it on the ground. Penn subsequently fled on foot prior to the arrival of Hamden Police.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Penn’s arrest.
On July 25th 2011 Hamden Police was again dispatched to 985 Winchester Avenue on the report of a domestic dispute.
Investigation revealed that Quintel Penn had allegedly forced entry into his girlfriend’s residence, by damaging a window. Once inside, Penn threatened her and then spit in her face. He fled on foot prior to the arrival of Hamden Police.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Penn’s arrest.
On August 19th 2011 Hamden Police was dispatched to 985 Winchester Avenue on the report of a domestic dispute.
Investigation revealed that Quintel Brown had entered the residence and grabbed, his now ex-girlfriend by the throat. Penn then allegedly grabbed her and forced her to walk with him through several yards. While Hamden Police was attempting to locate him, Penn allegedly covered her mouth as she attempted to scream for help.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Penn’s arrest.
During each of these incidents, officers vigilantly searched for Penn. The search continued for several months. Police utilized the K-9 Division in an effort to locate him.
On January 12th Detective Raymond Quinn, who is assigned to the United States Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with members of the Hamden Police Department and USMS located Penn at 985 Winchester Avenue. That as officers approached the house, Penn fled on foot towards Marlboro Street. He was subsequently arrested after a lengthy foot pursuit.
Hamden Police arrested:
Quintel Penn, 33, of 47 Clinton Street, Waterbury. He was charged with Strangulation in the 3rd Degree, 2 counts, Unlawful Restraint in the 2nd Degree, Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Interfering With an Emergency Call, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Threatening in the 2nd Degree, Breach of Peace and Disorderly Conduct, 2 counts. On January 10th at approximately 1:45a.m. Hamden Police responded to Mike’s Auto Clinic, 1312 Whitney Avenue, on the report that a motor vehicle had crashed into the building.
Upon arrival, officer’s observed extensive damage to the front of the building, however, the vehicle was gone.
Video surveillance indicated that a vehicle, described as a white-colored Chrysler Sebring, backed into the building, causing its collapse. An individual, described as a white male, 20’s, wearing a black jacket, is seen entering the building and stealing cigarettes. The individual then enters the vehicle and flees from the area.
An undisclosed amount of cigarettes were taken in the burglary.

On January 8th at approximately 2:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to Sam’s Food Mart, 3394 Whitney Avenue, on the report of a robbery.
Investigation revealed that an individual entered the convenience store and demanded money. The individual allegedly threatened to shoot the clerk if he did not comply. Moments later, the individual fled northbound on Whitney Avenue in an SUV.
A short time thereafter, Cheshire Police observed the vehicle on Route 10 traveling at a high rate of speed. Several Cheshire Officers were able to locate the individual, identified as Mike Crandell, after he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. That after completing their investigation, Cheshire Police turned Crandell over to the custody of the Hamden Police Department.
Hamden Police arrested:
Mike Crandell, 22, of 33 Young Street, New Haven. He was charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree. Crandell, who was detained at police headquarters on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on January 23rd.

On January 7th at approximately 10:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the parking lot of Henny Penny, 3048 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an attempted assault with a motor vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Heather Proce-Little allegedly attempted to strike her boyfriend with a motor vehicle. Proce-Little allegedly chased her boyfriend on Washington Avenue, through several yards and parking lots. Officers learned that a verbal altercation preceded the incident.
There were no reported injuries.

On December 25th at approximately 3:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to a Hamden residence on the report of a fall victim.
Upon the arrival of police, Hamden Fire Rescue personnel were administering medical treatment to the 22 year-old female Hamden resident.
Investigation revealed that the 22 year-old was attending a holiday party. She fell, suffering a head injury. Moments later she became unconscious. American Medical Response (AMR) was summoned and transported her to Yale – New Haven Hospital.
While being transported to the hospital, she awoke in the ambulance to find an AMR employee sexually assaulting her. She indicated that she could not move because she was strapped to a stretcher.
Upon being discharged from the hospital, the victim contacted the Hamden Police Department.
The Hamden Police Department Detective Division subsequently began an investigation.
Hamden Police learned that Paramedic Mark Powell was treating the 22 year-old in the rear of the ambulance. Information was obtained which enabled detectives to apply for an arrest warrant for Powell. The court subsequently signed the arrest warrant on January 5th.
On January 5th Mark Powell, 49, of 90 Clintonville Road in North Haven turned himself in to police custody. He was charged with Sexual Assault in the 1st Degree and Unlawful Restraint in the 1st Degree. Powell, who was released after posting a $25,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on January 19th.

On December 6th at approximately 2:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to Burger King, 937 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an armed robbery.
The initial investigation revealed that as a restaurant employee exited the building, an individual, who was brandishing a firearm, approached him. It was then reported that the individual forced the employee to open the door and then the safe. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the safe.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Rootsheel Antoine, an employee at Burger King, fabricated the complaint, along with a co-worker, Matthew Harris. Investigation further revealed that a friend of Antoine and Harris, Cedrick Braswell, assisted them in committing the staged robbery and dividing the proceeds.
Hamden Police recovered the weapon allegedly used during the incident, as well as an undisclosed amount of money that was stolen from Burger King.
Detective Sean Dolan of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division subsequently submitted arrest warrant affidavits to the court.

On October 19th at approximately 3:15 p.m. Hamden Police responded to 23 Concord Street, 1st floor, on the report of a burglary.
Investigation revealed that entry was gained from an unlocked window. Once inside, those responsible stole several thousand dollars worth of electronic equipment.
That after a lengthy investigation by Detective Brian Stewart of the Hamden Police Department Detective Division, 3 individuals were identified as suspects. Detective Stewart submitted arrest warrant affidavits to the court for review. The warrants were subsequently approved.

On October 20th Hamden Police responded to K and J Landscaping on the report of a larceny.

On December 24th at approximately 11:30p.m. a Hamden Police Officer was traveling southbound on Fairview Avenue en route to a family dispute at 75 Fairview Avenue. The officer struck a motor vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Jones Road. The vehicle, which was operated by a 17 year-old Wethersfield resident, allegedly proceeded, without stopping, through a stop sign, which is located at the intersection.
Both the officer and 17 year-old were treated at the scene for minor injuries. They were both transported to local hospitals for further medical treatment.
A preliminary investigation revealed that narcotics were found in the teen’s vehicle. Furthermore, officers are attempting to ascertain if alcohol was a contributing factor, with regards to the teenage operator.
The investigation is continuing. Officers expect to make an arrest in the near future.

On December 18th at approximately 2:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to 41 Winnett Street on the report of a physical domestic dispute. Prior to arrival, officers were advised that a stabbing had occurred.
Upon arrival at the second floor apartment, officers found Rodney Williams Sr. with a stab wound to the chest. Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical assistance. Williams was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers learned that Williams Sr. became engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with a family member, less than 18 years of age. The juvenile then allegedly threw a knife, which stuck in Williams’s chest.
Officer Ronald Glifort arrested the juvenile after a foot pursuit. He was charged with Assault in the 1st Degree and Disorderly Conduct. He was transported to Juvenile Detention in Bridgeport. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven, today.

On December 16th Hamden Police responded to 1680 Shepard Avenue on the report of a theft of utility services. Officers were advised that United Illuminating investigators received information that electricity was being stolen.
Upon arrival, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the residence. A search warrant was submitted to the court and approved. Officers subsequently searched the residence and seized hundreds of marijuana plants. Furthermore, officers discovered a large grow operation.
Further investigation led to the search of 220 Fans Rock Road. That after securing a second search warrant, officers discovered hundreds of marijuana plants, as well as drug paraphernalia. Once again, officers discovered a large grow operation.
In total, officers seized in excess of 700 marijuana plants, as well as over $19,000 in United States currency, between both residences. The marijuana, which weighed over 100 pounds, has an estimated street value of $500,000.
Hamden Police arrested: Illeana Rivera, 51, and Meelee Rivera, 31, both of 220 Fans Rock Road. They were both charged with Cultivation of Marijuana Over 1 Kilogram, Possession of Marijuana With the Intent to Sell Over 1 Kilogram, Possession of Marijuana and Operating a Drug Factory. They were both detained at police headquarters on a $500,000 bond. Their court date is scheduled for January 12th in Meriden.

On October 30th at approximately 1:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to Yale-New Hospital on the report of 2 assault victims.
Investigation revealed that the 2 victims, who are 17 and 18 years of age, were dragged out of a motor vehicle, robbed and beaten. The incident occurred in the parking lot of 2 Skiff Street. One of the victims suffered a broken nose in the attack.

On September 28th Hamden Police responded to 42 Warner Street, Apt. B9, on the report of a lethargic, injured 2 year-old child. The child was subsequently transported to Yale – New Haven Hospital.
On September 29th Detective Stephen Rossacci of the Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit met with Yale – New Haven Hospital medical personnel, as well as the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Detective Rossacci learned that the 2 year-old, who was being treated at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit after emergency surgery, had suffered substantial injuries. The 2 year-old, who was severely dehydrated, had extensive bruising to the head, chest, abdomen, back, as well as a fractured femur. Furthermore, the child had sustained trauma to the liver and pancreas. In addition, skin had peeled from the buttocks areas, due to severe diaper rash.
Physicians determined that the child was the victim of suspected child abuse and that if he returned home, would be in imminent danger of dying.
Detective Rossacci conducted a lengthy investigation, which led to the arrests of Mariangely Arroyo-Rosado, the victim’s mother and Bevon Young, her boyfriend. They were both arrested on December 8th, at their residence, 42 Warner Street, Apt. B9 in Hamden.

On December 9th at approximately 12:45a.m. a Hamden Police Officer, while on routine patrol, observed a parked motor vehicle on Brooksvale Avenue, obstructing traffic. The Officer discovered the operator of the vehicle, Todd Britto, asleep behind the wheel. Britto allegedly had a marijuana joint in his hands.
Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle. Officers found 33 bags of heroin inside. The 8.8 grams of heroin has an estimated street value of $660.00. Officers also located $380.00 strewn throughout the vehicle.

In August 2011, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Sex Offender Registry Unit notified Hamden Police, that Jerome Moye had not been in compliance with the sex offender unit. Moye was not in compliance for failing to verify his address. He was convicted in 2002 for Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree to a Minor and Risk of Injury to a Minor.

On October 24th at approximately 3:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to Old Navy, 2335 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a shoplifting.
Investigation revealed that a customer, identified as Robert Hallett, exited the store with 2 bags of merchandise. Hallett allegedly pushed an employee before he left the store. Further investigation revealed that Hallett then entered Stop and Shop, at which time Officer Michael Pantera approached him.
Upon exiting Stop and Shop, Hallett allegedly pushed Officer Pantera and then fled on foot. Officer Pantera was able to subdue Hallett, after a physical struggle in front of the store. A Loss Prevention Officer from a nearby store assisted him. Officer Pantera sustained minor injuries.
Officers learned that Hallett had stolen over $900 in merchandise from Old Navy. Officers further learned that Hallett was on Parole.
Hamden Police arrested:
Robert Hallett, 41, of 41 Redfield Street, New Haven. He was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree, Assault on a Police Officer, Larceny in the 5th Degree and Interfering With a Police Officer. Hallett, who was detained on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 7th.

On October 25th at approximately 1:00a.m. Officer Robert Manfield of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle traveling on Morse Street with an expired registration. He attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, however, was led on a slow-speed pursuit. The vehicle eventually stopped on Shelton Avenue in New Haven.
Investigation revealed that the operator, identified as Neville Williams, swallowed a “marijuana joint” as he was fleeing from police. He was subsequently arrested.
Hamden Police arrested:
Neville Williams, 46, of 26 Irving Street, New Haven. He was charged with Tampering With Evidence, Interfering With an Officer, Operating Without a License, Engaging an Officer in Pursuit and Failure to Renew Registration. Williams, who was detained at police headquarters on a $1,500.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 2nd.

On October 26th at approximately 12:15p.m. Officer William Onofrio of the Hamden Police Department observed an alleged drug transaction on Dix Street, while on routine patrol.
His investigation led to the search of the residence of Chaz Yopp, 75 George Street. Yopp has a bedroom designated for his use at 75 George Street.
As officers attempted to search Yopp’s bedroom, Britt Martin, blocked the entry. Martin allegedly pushed an officer. He was subsequently placed under arrest, after a brief struggle.
Upon searching Yopp’s bedroom, officers located 146.9 grams of marijuana, .38 caliber revolver and drug paraphernalia. Yopp was promptly arrested.
Hamden Police arrested:
Chaz Yopp, 18, of 75 George Street, Hamden. He was charged with Possession of a Pistol Without a Permit, Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana With the Intent to Sell, Operating a Drug Factory and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Yopp, who was detained at police headquarters on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 16th.

On October 27th at approximately 9:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Circular Avenue on the report of a passenger on a Connecticut Transit bus with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers removed Juan Boyd Jr. from the bus. Investigation revealed that Boyd Jr. was allegedly making loud statements that he was in the possession of a gun and that he was going to “take care of business.” Officers did not locate a firearm.
Hamden Police arrested:
Juan Boyd Jr., 34, of 559 West Ivy Street, New Haven. He was charged with Threatening in the 2nd Degree and Breach of Peace. Boyd Jr., who was released after posting a $2,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 10th.

On October 21st at approximately 10:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the Farmington Canal Trail on the report of a suspicious person. Officers received information that a male individual was rummaging through a purse. The individual was seen running southbound on the trail, towards Mather Street.
Officer Patrick McCue subsequently detained the individual, a 17 year-old Hamden resident. Further investigation revealed that the juvenile allegedly burglarized a motor vehicle that was parked in a parking lot of a Dixwell Avenue business. The purse was allegedly taken from the vehicle.
Hamden Police arrested:
- 17 year-old Hamden resident. He was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree and Larceny in the 6th Degree. He was released after posting a $500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on November 8th.

On October 24th at approximately 12:15a.m. Officer Shawn Nutcher of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle traveling on Pine Rock Avenue with defective equipment. He attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle fled into New Haven, eventually stopping on Blake Street.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as Darryl Giles, subsequently exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was arrested after a foot pursuit. Officers found 7 bags of marijuana and 77 empty bags, which are used to package the drugs, in his possession.
Investigation revealed that Giles, left his 4 year-old son inside of the vehicle, while he engaged police in both a vehicular and foot pursuit. Further investigation revealed that the Connecticut State Police wanted Giles on the strength of 2 felony arrest warrants.
Hamden Police arrested:
Darryl Giles, 21, of 151 Fitch Street, New Haven. He was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana With the Intent to Sell, Interfering With a Police Officer, Engaging an Officer in Pursuit, Reckless Driving, Dark-Tinted Windows and Failure to Display Front License Plate. On October 18th, during the early evening hours, Yale-New Haven Hospital personnel notified Hamden Police that George Ferrie Jr., 87, of 43 Briarcliff Road in Hamden, had died. Ferrie is the pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle on October 18th at Old Dixwell Avenue and Evergreen Avenue.
On October 19th Ferrie’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Officer David Falcigno of the Traffic Division is continuing the investigation.

On October 17th Meriden Superior Court issued a Protective Order against Gerald Lawrence regarding a previous arrest. A portion of the order stated that he was to have no contact with his ex-girlfriend.
On October 18th at approximately 6:00a.m. Lawrence forcibly entered his ex-girlfriend’s Dennis Circle residence. He then allegedly walked into her bathroom. She was able to convince him to leave.
A short time thereafter, Officer Mark Sheppard and Nick Lovett arrested Lawrence. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters.

On October 14th at approximately 5:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of 1954 State Street on the report of a dispute. Furthermore, officers were advised that a truck was fleeing from the area.
Moments later, Officer Mark Katz stopped the vehicle on Carmalt Street. An occupant of the vehicle told officers that she contacted her ex-boyfriend, Thomas Vollano, and asked him to sell her marijuana. When they met him, Vollano alleged stole her money.
A fight then erupted between 2 females. Vollano, who was in the possession of a golf club, allegedly became involved. He then allegedly struck the windshield of the vehicle, which contained his ex-girlfriend. Thomas Vollano was subsequently arrested.
Hamden Police arrested:
Thomas Vollano, 28, of 45 Terrace Street, New Haven. He was charged with Robbery in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. Vollano, who was detained at police headquarters on a $10,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on October 27th.

On September 13th at approximately 5:00p.m. a 36 year-old Wintergreen Avenue resident arrived at Hamden Police headquarters regarding a family dispute. Officers obtained detailed information and conducted an investigation. An arrest warrant application for Oliver Graham, her ex-husband, was subsequently submitted. On October 4th several Hamden Police Officers responded to Curtis Street in New Haven, where Graham was working. He was promptly taken into custody. Hamden Police arrested: Oliver Graham, 42, of 287 Division Street, New Haven. He was charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Strangulation in the 2nd Degree and Threatening. Graham was detained at police headquarters on a court ordered $250,000 bond. Graham was also arrested for another incident involving his ex-wife. The incident occurred on September 3rd. Officers submitted an arrest warrant for the incident. The warrant was subsequently approved. Graham was further charged with Threatening in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 2nd Degree and Breach of Peace. He was detained at police headquarters on an additional $50,000 bond.

On September 30th at approximately 9:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to Hamden High School, on the report of a large fight in the stands at the high school football game. Officers observed numerous individuals fighting in the upper level of the stands. As officers arrived, approximately 60 individuals fled on foot. Sergeant Anthony Diaz arrested Kirtan Lockett who was involved in the altercation. Moments later, officers responded to the area of the Hamden Plaza on the report of approximately 15 individuals engaged in a fight. Once again, as officers arrived, the crowd fled. A 17 year-old, who was involved in the altercation, pushed a Hamden Police Officer. He was eventually apprehended in the parking lot of 2165 Dixwell Avenue. Hamden Police arrested:
Kirtan Lockett, 18, of 280 Circular Avenue, Hamden. He was charged with Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. On September 27th at approximately 10:00p.m. Officer Michael Nawrocki of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle traveling on Pine Rock Avenue with no license plate. Upon attempting to conduct a motor vehicle stop, the vehicle fled northbound. The fleeing vehicle fled onto Oberlin Road, where Officer Robert O’Neill was investigating an assault complaint. Officer O’Neill, who was interviewing a group of 5 individuals, observed the vehicle driving directly towards the group. The individuals attempted to scramble to safety. A 24 year-old Hamden resident was subsequently struck in the right hip by the fleeing vehicle. His injury status is unavailable at this time. The fleeing vehicle continued onto Wintergreen Avenue. As another police vehicle attempted to intervene, the operator of the vehicle, crossed lanes and drove directly towards the officers vehicle, forcing him off the roadway. The vehicle then drove onto Lane Street, where again the operator forced another police vehicle off the roadway. While on Lane Street, the fleeing vehicle appeared to lose control, at which time 2 Hamden Police vehicles made contact with it.
Officer Nawrocki, and his K-9 partner “Hank” approached the vehicle, which had 3 occupants. As the operator, Laquane Hester, was pulled from the vehicle, officers located a fully loaded .380 caliber handgun underneath him. Officer O’Neill and Mark Sheppard arrested the 2 passengers, who were identified as Richard Jackson Jr. and William Hunter.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle, in which Hester, Jackson and Hunter were traveling in, was reported stolen in a car-jacking incident that occurred earlier in the night in Bridgeport. The Bridgeport Police Department was advised and are continuing their investigation. Hamden Police arrested: Laquan Hester, 22, of 455 Bird Street, Bridgeport. He was charged with Possession of a Firearm By a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Assault in the 2nd Degree With a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, Larceny in the 4th Degree, Interfering With a Police Officer, Engaging an Officer in Pursuit (3 counts) and Reckless Driving. On September 25th at approximately 2:15a.m. a Hamden Police Officer observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, without headlights. The vehicle, which was on Goodrich Street, was also traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. The Hamden Police Officer followed the vehicle to Beechwood Lane, which is a dead-end street. The fleeing vehicle subsequently turned around and accelerated at a high rate of speed, allegedly attempting to strike the police vehicle. The officer conducted an evasive maneuver, driving on a residential lawn. The fleeing vehicle continued driving at a high rate of speed, without headlights, into New Haven. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a front porch on Winchester Avenue in New Haven. The operator of the vehicle, identified as Michael Groom, attempted to exit, while flames were observed underneath the vehicle. The Hamden Officer pulled Groom to safety and then placed him under arrest. Hamden Police arrested: Michael Groom, 33, of 57 Longmeadow Avenue, Hamden. He was charged with Attempted Assault on a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Interfering With a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Engaging in Pursuit and Operating the Wrong Way on a One-Way Street. Groom, who is on parole, was remanded to custody. His scheduled court is October 7th in Meriden.

On September 26th at approximately 12:00a.m. a Hamden Police Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Arch Street and Fitch Street. The vehicle, which was being operated without insurance, had defective equipment. Investigation led to the search of the vehicle. Officers located a fully loaded .38 caliber firearm on the passenger side floorboard. The passenger, Vonnie Jones, was subsequently arrested. The operator of the vehicle, Quatisha Smith was issued a misdemeanor summons.
Hamden Police arrested: Vonnie Jones, 33, of 1134 Quinnipiac Avenue, New Haven. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit and Weapons in a Motor Vehicle. Jones, who was detained at police headquarters on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on October 10th. Quatisha Smith, 32, of 766 Winchester Avenue, New Haven. On September 24th at approximately 12:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to TD Bank, 2992 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a suspicious person. The caller advised police that an individual was inside of the bank and that he had a large knife strapped to his side. The individual subsequently fled, prior to the arrival of police. Moments later, Officer Bryan Kelly observed the individual, identified as Brian Richetelli, inside of Webster Bank, located on Old Dixwell Avenue. Richetelli attempted to flee upon observing Officer Kelly. Once detained, officers found a .22 caliber revolver in his possession. Further investigation led to the search of Richetelli’s motor vehicle. Officers located another firearm, described as a .44 caliber, a large knife and a gas mask.
Hamden Police arrested: Brian Richetelli, 26, of 15 Stanford Lane, North Haven. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm (2 counts) and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. On September 19th at approximately 8:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to an assault with a knife complaint at 75 North Street. The 20 year-old victim advised officers that his mother’s boyfriend, Paul Ferraro, had attempted to slash his face with a knife. The victim, who was bleeding profusely, was subsequently cut in the forearm. He was treated by the Hamden Fire Department and transported to the Hospital of Saint Raphael. Officers found Ferraro, who resides at 75 North Street, locked in a bedroom. He was arrested after continuously struggling with officers and resisting arrest. Hamden Police arrested: Paul Ferraro, 48, of 75 North Street, Hamden. He was charged with Assault in the 2nd, Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Interfering With an Officer and Refusal to be Fingerprinted. The Hamden Police Department Crime Scene Unit has positively identified the victim in yesterday’s shooting at 355 Goodrich Street. He is Darick M. Cooper, 27, of last known address 217 Ashmun Street in New Haven. Cooper was identified through fingerprint analysis. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy today and determined that the manner of death is a “homicide.” Furthermore, the cause of death has been classified as a “gunshot wound.” The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is continuing the investigation with the assistance of the New Haven State’s Attorneys Office. In addition, the department is receiving assistance from both the New Haven Police Department and several federal agencies.

On September 18th at approximately 3:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to Quinnipiac University, on the report of an assault that occurred on campus. Investigation revealed that a Quinnipiac University student was attempting to break up a fight, when another student struck him in the face. The student, who allegedly struck him, was identified as Quinnipiac University student Ike Azotam. The student who was assaulted was treated for his injuries at the University’s medical center. Further investigation revealed that a second Quinnipiac University student attempted to break up the fight, when he too was struck in the face several times. He suffered minor facial injuries. Police learned that Quinnipiac University student James Johnson was responsible for the alleged assault. Hamden Police arrested: Ike Azotam, 20, of 465 Columbus Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts. He was charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree. On September 18th a Hamden Police Officer observed a motor vehicle violation on Goodrich Street. On September 18th at approximately 9:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to DKB Airbrushing, 2979 State Street, on the report of a larceny of a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed that the owner of the business observed an individual; later identified as Felix Vazquez, attempt to steal his motor vehicle. As he approached Vazquez, who was seated inside of the vehicle, he (Vazquez) put the vehicle in reverse and struck 3 other parked vehicles. Vazquez then allegedly attempted to run over the business owner. Vazquez subsequently struck a tree a short distance away. The business owner apprehended Vazquez after a short foot pursuit. Vazquez was then brought back to the office and held at gunpoint, awaiting the arrival of Hamden Police.

On September 18th at approximately 4:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to the Country Farm Market and Deli, 2215 State Street, on the report of a forcible burglary.
Investigation revealed that the front window was shattered and that several cartons of cigarettes were taken.
Moments later, Officer Gregg Curran observed a motor vehicle that fit the description of a vehicle that fled from the scene. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the operator engaged Officer Curran in pursuit. The vehicle was eventually stopped on the Route 40 Connector.
Further investigation led to the arrests of the operator of the vehicle, Adam Rowe, and passenger, Donald Sydnor. Several items stolen in the burglary were located inside of the vehicle.
Hamden Police arrested:
Adam Rowe, 41, of 476 Middletown Avenue, North Haven. He was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Larceny in the 5th Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 5th Degree, Engaging an Officer in Pursuit and Reckless Driving. Rowe, who was detained on a $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on September 29th.
Donald Sydnor, 42, of 141 Cherry Ann Street, Apt. 9, Hamden. He was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree, Larceny in the 5th Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 5th Degree. On July 30th at approximately 7:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to DJ’s Liquor Store, 16 Fairview Avenue, on the report of a robbery and aggravated assault.
Investigation revealed that a 53 year-old Hamden resident was shopping inside of the store when he observed another patron concealing several bottles of alcoholic beverages. As the resident advised the staff of the potential larceny, the patron struck him over the head with a bottle and fled. The Hamden resident, who briefly lost consciousness, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. He suffered a head injury and a broken tooth.
That after a lengthy investigation by Officer William Onofrio, an arrest warrant affidavit was applied for and granted for the arrest of Frederic Cohen.
On September 14th, Cohen turned himself in at Hamden Police Headquarters.

Investigation revealed that Marcia Steele, 87, of Hamden, was traveling westbound on Skiff Street Extension when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. Steele, who was seriously injured in the accident, was trapped inside of her vehicle. Hamden Fire Department personnel responded and used Hurst Tool equipment to free her from the vehicle. She was transported to Yale – New Haven Hospital.
The accident occurred in close proximity to Shepard Glen School.

On September 9th at approximately 11:45p.m. Officer Tim Brown of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Evergreen Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was subsequently conducted on Hamden Hills Drive.
Investigation led to the search of the operator of the vehicle, Alison Barno. He was in the possession of 9 bags of crack cocaine and $1,503.00. The crack cocaine weighed 19.7 grams. Barno continually fought with officers during the incident. One officer was elbowed in the head.

On September 11th at approximately 3:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to a Gorham Avenue residence on the report of an attempted burglary. Officers were further advised that several individuals were throwing rocks at the residence.
Upon arrival, Officer Michael Nawrocki arrested 2 of the individuals. The third individual, who was later identified as Joseph Duarte, fled on foot through the backyard. Duarte was later arrested at a Circular Avenue residence.
Investigation revealed that Duarte allegedly attempted to gain entry into the house by kicking down the door. Further investigation revealed a basement window was damaged.

On September 7th at approximately 10:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Lee Street on the report of road rage.
Moments later, Officer Scott Jason observed an individual who was operating a Honda, “cut off” another vehicle. As Officer Jason attempted to stop the Honda, the operator fled towards Mather Street. The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified as Curtis Easley, subsequently lost control of the vehicle in the area of Mather Street and Waite Street. The 3 occupants subsequently fled on foot.
A short time later, officers located the 3 occupants, 2 of which were hiding in wooded areas on Mather and Waite Streets. They were all arrested.
Investigation revealed that Easley allegedly “cut off” the complainant at least 3 times. The third time, he allegedly exited the vehicle and began screaming at the 41 year-old, female complainant.

On September 8th at approximately 5:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Ridge Road and Waite Street on the report of a threatening with a handgun.
Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle, which was occupied by a Hamden couple and an infant, was being followed aggressively by another vehicle, in the area of Ridge Road. The operator of the pursuing vehicle, Anja Celikovic, allegedly advised the Hamden couple to “pull over” because she was a “cop.” The Hamden couple subsequently stopped their vehicle.
That as Celikovic was yelling at the couple, a passenger in her vehicle, Jorge Tirado, exited the vehicle. Tirado was allegedly in the possession of a firearm and was holding it on his side. The Hamden couple then contacted Hamden Police.
Officers seized Tirado’s firearm, a Glock .40 caliber. Furthermore, Officers seized 2 badges that were in Celikovic’s possession. The badges were Naugatuck and New Canaan Animal Control badges.

On September 2nd at approximately noon, Hamden Police received a report of a missing 16 year-old from the Children’s Center. Children’s Center staff was searching for the juvenile, in part because of her suicidal tendencies, specifically with drowning.
A short time thereafter, Hamden Police received information that the juvenile was located in the area of the Farmington Canal Trail, near Mather Street. A further report indicated that a civilian, Michael Patrick (48), was restraining the youth from entering Lake Whitney. Patrick was jogging on the trail.
Moments later, Officer Jay Bunnell arrived. He immediately proceeded down a steep ravine that leads to a 9-foot barbed-wire fence. There he observed Patrick physically struggling with the youth, preventing her from entering the water.
Officer Bunnell subsequently scaled the fence. When he was approximately 5 feet from them, Officer Bunnell became submerged up to his chest, in thick mud and water. He could not move his legs. Furthermore, his police radio was submerged in water and unusable. Officer Bunnell was able to grab onto a low hanging vine and pull himself to safety. He then continued towards the youth.
Officer Bunnell then became submerged a second time, this time being assisted by Patrick, who pulled him from the mucky waters. He then continued towards the youth a third time, with Patrick in close proximity. Upon reaching the 16 year-old, they began pulling her towards shore. At this time, all 3 of them became submerged in the water, which rose to Officer Bunnell’s neck. Patrick was able to carry the 16 year-old to shore. Officer Bunnell was able to free himself with the aid of low-lying branches.
The 16 year-old was transported to the Hospital of Saint Raphael for medical assistance.
The selfless acts of Officer Bunnell and Michael Patrick were instrumental in saving the 16 year-olds life.

On August 23rd at approximately 12:40a.m. Hamden Police responded to the New Haven Country Club, 160 Hartford Turnpike, on the report of a burglary in progress. Upon the arrival of officers, 2 individuals fled out of the rear door of a barn.
Officer Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner Titan subsequently tracked 1 of the individuals, who was located in a wooded area, hiding in thick brush. The individual was promptly arrested.
Moments later, Officer Venditto and K-9 Titan conducted a second track. K-9 Titan immediately picked up another scent and began tracking. A short time thereafter, the second individual was found on a steep embankment, hiding under several thorny bushes. He was subsequently arrested.

On 08/18/2011 at approximately 1745 hours, members of the Patrol Division were dispatched to the parking lot area of West Rock Park on Wintergreen Avenue on a reported larceny from a motor vehicle. A witness reported seeing 3 individuals running from the area with items in their hands and provided officers with a description of the suspects and the motor vehicle they were driving. On 08/19/2011 at approximately 1:50am, Officers Timothy Brown and William May of the Patrol Division observed a silver Lexus traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Goodrich Street without it’s headlights on. The Officers activated their overhead lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, but the vehicle accelerated and attempted to elude the officers. The vehicle finally pulled over abruptly on Bassett Street. As Officers approached the vehicle, an orange and white Metro Taxi pulled in front of the stopped motor vehicle quickly and the driver exited his vehicle and ran towards the Officers. Further investigation revealed that the subjects had just assaulted the Taxi-cab driver, attempted to rob him of his cash, and took his cellular phone and threw it to the ground before fleeing in the silver Lexus westbound on Goodrich Street. Officers observed significant swelling on the side of the Taxi drivers face, but he refused medical treatment and stated that he was going home to put ice on his face. Robert T. Hopes 45, of 634 Newhall Street, Hamden, was arrested and charged with Larceny 6th, Robbery 2nd, conspiracy to commit robbery in the 2nd, Assault 3rd and threatening and was held on a $50,000.00 dollar bond with a court date of September 2, 2011. Terrell Sherman 36, of 714 Orchard Street in New Haven, was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Engaging Officers in Pursuit, Failure to have Headlamps on, Larceny 6th, and conspiracy to commit Robbery 2nd, and held on a $50,000.00 dollar bond with a court date of September 2, 2011.

On August 4th at approximately 11:45p.m. a Hamden Police Officer observed a motor vehicle violation on Fairview Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was subsequently conducted on Woodin Street.
Investigation led to the search of the operator of the vehicle, Sean Ricci. Officers confiscated 2 bags of marijuana and $655.00. The marijuana weighed 24 grams. A further search of Ricci’s vehicle led to the discovery of an additional 2 bags (8 grams) of marijuana and 20 grams of Mescaline. Officers also found 49 empty pill capsules.

Between April and July of 2011, the Hamden Police Department has investigated numerous thefts that have occurred at local gyms. These larcenies were committed in locker rooms and from motor vehicles that were parked in the gym parking lots. Patrons had numerous items stolen including money, jewelry, electronic equipment, credit cards, ATM cards and personal items.
On August 10th, after a lengthy investigation by Detective John Marks, Hamden Police arrested John Wiechman on the strength of 11 outstanding arrest warrants.

Investigation led to the search of the operator, identified as Gregoria Chambers. Officers found nearly 2 grams of crack cocaine in his possession. Officers learned that Williams was wanted on an arrest warrant originating out of Middletown.

On August 3rd the United States Marshal Service Violent Fugitive Task Force assisted the Hamden Police Department in apprehending an individual who was wanted on an arrest warrant. On August 3rd at approximately 6:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Edgehill Road and Armory Street on the report of a street robbery with injuries.
Investigation revealed that 2 Hamden residents, ages 17 and 18, were walking on Laurel Road when a vehicle pulled alongside them. Two black males exited the vehicle and demanded their belongings. They subsequently stole personal items from one of the teens. The second teen refused to give them his cell phone, at which time he was punched in the face. During the robbery, one of the individuals simulated that he was in the possession of a firearm. The subjects then fled in the vehicle.
Moments later, Officer Mark Sheppard observed the vehicle in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Circular Avenue. Officer Sheppard pursued the vehicle to Scott Street. The 3 occupants subsequently fled on foot. Officer Sheppard arrested one of the individuals, in a parking lot, on Dixwell Avenue.
Hamden Police learned that the vehicle used by the 3 individuals, was stolen earlier in the day in New Haven, in an apparent carjacking.

16 year-old New Haven resident. On June 14th Hamden Police received a complaint from Yankee Aluminum regarding a worthless check in the amount of $33,853.00. Robert Reiling of Fairfield County Glass allegedly gave the check to personnel of Yankee Aluminum.

On July 28th at approximately 4:15p.m. Hamden Police responded to 1 Circular Avenue on the report of criminal mischief. The caller indicated that someone had written, “SHOOT ALL COPS IN THE HEAD!” on the building.
Upon arrival, officers observed the graffiti, which was written in black ink on the stone building. It was written on the southeast corner of building, in plain view of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. A witness to the incident, who subsequently chased the individual responsible, assisted police in the investigation.
Further investigation led officers to the identity of the individual, Thomas Wexler. He was arrested shortly thereafter. Wexler told police that he wrote the statement because he wanted to write “something shocking.”

Thomas Wexler, 31, of 1015 Whalley Avenue, Apt. C-15, Hamden. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. Wexler, who was released on a Written Promise to Appear, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 11th.

On July 26th at approximately 7:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to a Forest Street residence on the report of a person who was shot in the face with an air soft gun.
Investigation revealed that an 18 year-old Hamden resident was operating a motor vehicle, which was stopped at a red control signal, in the vicinity of Hamden High School. An individual who was seated in the backseat of another vehicle then shot the female operator in the face. The individual then fired several more shots, nearly striking the female.
The shot that struck the female nearly came in contact with her right eye. She refused medical treatment.
A short time thereafter, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Whitney Avenue. The vehicle contained 2 of the 3 occupants that were responsible for the shooting. Moments later, the third individual turned himself in at police headquarters.
Hamden Police arrested:
Christopher Dynia, 20, of 335 Forest Street, Hamden. He was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. Dynia is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 9th.
Michael Allen, 18, of 52 Costanzo Court, Hamden. He was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. Allen is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 9th.
A 17 year-old Hamden resident. He was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 9th.

On July 27th at approximately 12:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Franklin Road on the report of a sexual assault. Officers were advised that the victim was banging on doors in the area, screaming for help.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an individual approached the victim, who is in her 20’s and resides in New Haven, on Ferry Street. She subsequently entered his motor vehicle and was driven to the East Rock section of Hamden. She was then forcibly sexually assaulted in the driveway of a State Street business. She advised police that she was able to flee from the vehicle. She further advised police that the individual chased her in his vehicle.
The victim, who was treated at the scene by Hamden Fire Rescue, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The individual is described as a tall, light-skinned black male. His vehicle is described as small, 4-door and gray in color.

On July 26th at approximately 12:45a.m. Officer Shawn Nutcher of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle proceed through a stop sign on Bowen Street and Cherry Ann Street. He subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Upon speaking with the operator of the vehicle, Sahib Epps, Epps decided to flee, in the vehicle. While traveling behind Epps’ vehicle, officers watched him throw an object outside. The object was identified as 22 grams of crack cocaine. The crack cocaine was packaged in 6 smaller bags.
Epps eventually stopped his vehicle on Pease Road. He then allegedly fought with officers and resisted arrest. Officers found $1,475.00 in his possession.

On July 23rd at approximately 10:30p.m. Hamden Police was notified that 3 individuals were chasing several subjects on School Street. Shortly thereafter, officers were approached by 1 of the individuals, who stated that his vehicle was entered, while parked in the parking lot of 2545 Whitney Avenue, and that a GPS unit was stolen. He provided a description of the subjects. Officer Mark Gery arrested 2 of the individuals, who were walking on Dixwell Avenue. Moments later, Officer Gery and Officer Gregg Curran located 2 other individuals, who were hiding behind a van at a Dixwell Avenue residence. Officers located 3 bags of marijuana near the van. The 2 individuals were promptly arrested. Officers then located a fifth individual, who was hiding behind a shed at a Dixwell Avenue residence.
Hamden Police arrested:
Lamarr McElveen, 19, of 86 Shepard Street, New Haven. He was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Larceny in the 6th Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 6th Degree. McElveen, who was detained at police headquarters on a $7,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 5th.

On July 19th at approximately 12:45a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of the John Carusone Field, 325 Pine Rock Avenue, to investigate a welfare check. Hamden Central Communications originally received a 911 call from a cell phone, in which the background noise indicated a woman in distress. The call was subsequently traced to the field.
Moments later, a Hamden Police Officer observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, through the gravel parking lot. The officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified as Adrian Barwise, initially stopped. The officer observed a female, who was seated in the front seat, crying hysterically, attempting to exit the vehicle. The officer subsequently exited his vehicle, at which time the vehicle fled northbound on Pine Rock Avenue, nearly striking him.
Hamden Police utilized “stop sticks” on Dixwell Avenue, near Foch Street. The sticks fully deflated one of Barwise’s tires. Barwise continued northbound on Dixwell Avenue, traveling with the use of 3 tires. While on Shepard Avenue, the damaged tire started to fall off the rim. Barwise then lost control and struck a parked vehicle on Shepard Avenue.
As officers approached the vehicle, Barwise attempted to escape via a rear door. Officers at this time observed an infant seated in a car seat. Officers subsequently pulled Barwise from the vehicle and arrested him.
The female advised officers that she was sexually assaulted under a slide at John Carusone Field. She advised police that she was held against her will at both the park and inside of the vehicle. She made several attempting at fleeing with her daughter, but was not allowed to do so. A further investigation revealed that Barwise and the victim knew each other.
The victim, a New Haven resident was transported to Yale – New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
Hamden Police arrested:
Adrian Barwise, 24, of New Haven. He was charged with Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree (2 counts), Reckless Endangerment (2 counts), Risk of Injury to a Minor, Criminal Attempt of Assault on a Police Officer, Interfering With a Police Officer, Engaging an Officer in Pursuit and Reckless Driving. Barwise, who was detained at police headquarters on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden today.
Barwise was also wanted on 2 arrest warrants, which originate out of New Haven.
The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is continuing this investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

On July 17th at approximately 7:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the Hamden Fire Department, Station 2, located on Circular Avenue, on the report of an assault.
Upon arrival officers spoke with a 17 year-old Hamden resident, who was bleeding profusely from the head. Officers learned that moments earlier, the victim was struck at least 2 times on the head with a hammer. The incident occurred on Scott Street.
A short time thereafter, Sergeant John Sullivan located the individual responsible for the assault. The individual, who was later identified as James Narrow, engaged officers in a foot pursuit on Gorham Avenue. Sergeant Sullivan and Officer William Onofrio arrested him, shortly thereafter.
Investigation revealed that the assault stemmed from an earlier altercation.
The 17 year-old was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.

James Narrow, 20, of 187 Gorham Avenue, Hamden. He was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Breach of Peace and Interfering With a Police Officer. Narrow, who was detained at police headquarters on a $25,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on July 29th.

On July 9th at approximately 12:30a.m. New Haven Police notified Hamden Police that their “Shot Finder Technology” received a signal that several gunshots were fired in the area of Goodrich Street.
Investigation revealed that a 44 year-old New Haven resident was traveling on Alling Street when she heard several gunshots. Further investigation revealed that several bullets struck her vehicle. The vehicle sustained damage to the rim, tire and rear passenger door.

On July 2nd at approximately 3:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Westminster Street on the report of a sexual assault.
Investigation revealed that the victim, a Hamden resident, was asleep inside of a motor vehicle. She awoke to an individual, described as a black male in his 30’s, on top of her. The male subsequently fled on foot towards Dixwell Avenue.
Officer Jason Venditto and his K-9 partner “Titan” immediately conducted a track. They found Melvin Wilkes, hiding in a wooded area, near Colony Street.
That after further investigation by Detective Sean Dolan, a warrant was applied for and approved for Wilkes arrest.
On July 8th, Hamden Officers arrested Wilkes at his Lexington Street home.

On July 6th members of the Hamden Police Department Traffic Division and Street Interdiction Team executed 2 search warrants regarding unlicensed garages, which are operating in the town of Hamden. The warrants were served at 96-100 Columbus Street and 293 Goodrich Street.
While at 96-100 Columbus Street, officers observed that numerous individuals rented several garage bays. The individuals were allegedly performing vehicle repairs, without a State of Connecticut license.
Officers found that the second location, 293 Goodrich Street, was allegedly being operated without a State of Connecticut license.
Hamden Police arrested:
Charlie Barrett, 69, of 655 Fitch Street, Hamden.
Horace Brown, 56, of 58 Midhill Drive, Hamden.
Tyrus Garner, 32, of 60 Warner Street in Hamden.

Investigation revealed that a 64 year-old resident, parked her vehicle in the parking lot. She was approached by an individual, described as a thin built black male, who placed his hand over her mouth and demanded money. The individual subsequently grabbed a handbag and fled.

On June 22nd Officer Craig Appleby and Michael Nawrocki of the Hamden Police Department responded to 44 Dudley Street on the report of suspicious activity.
Officers learned that people were inside of this foreclosed property. Further investigation revealed that there was forced entry into the structure. The Officers and Officer Appleby’s K-9 partner “Hunter” proceeded to the second floor, where Hunter located 2 individuals inside of a bedroom. They were promptly arrested. Furthermore, Officers seized 29 bags of marijuana and 8 bags of crack cocaine, which were located in a handbag.

On June 27th at approximately 2:45a.m. Officer Tim Brown and Jason Venditto of the Hamden Police Department conducted an investigation in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Goodrich Street.
The motor vehicle that was under investigation was observed proceeding through a red control signal at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Goodrich Street. The operator of the vehicle, who was later identified as Luis Padilla, subsequently jumped out of the moving vehicle on Bowen Street. The vehicle struck the front steps of an Elizabeth Street residence.
Padilla, who fled on foot, was tracked by Officer Venditto and his K-9 partner Titan, to the backyard of an Alstrum Street home. He was arrested after continuously fighting with officers. Officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver under his body. Furthermore, Officers seized 7 bags of crack cocaine from his front pocket.
Further investigation revealed that Padilla had earlier stolen the motor vehicle. It was also learned that Padilla was wanted on an arrest warrant for Violation of Probation.

On June 23rd at approximately 10:30p.m. Officer Robert Manfield of the Hamden Police Department observed a motor vehicle proceed through a red control signal at the intersection of State Street and Ridge Road. He subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop on Davis Street.
Investigation led to the search of the operator of the vehicle, Carlos Cajigas. Officers located and seized 20 bags of crack cocaine and $362.00. Cajigas was promptly arrested.

On June 21st at approximately 11:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of 43 Jones Road on the report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers met with the assault victim, Edwin Arpi. Arpi suffered several facial injuries. Hamden Fire Rescue treated him at the scene. Arpi was transported to the Hospital of Saint Raphael.
Investigation revealed that Arpi alleged came to the Jones Road location to fight another individual, John Hopkins. Several other individuals became involved in the physical altercation. They all fled in a motor vehicle.
A short time thereafter, Officer Nick D’Angelo conducted a motor vehicle stop in the Hamden Plaza. John Hopkins was the operator of the vehicle. Several other individuals, who allegedly participated in the brawl, were inside of Hopkins vehicle. After further investigation, they were all arrested.

John Hopkins, 18, of 104 Thornton Street in Hamden. He was charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree. Hopkins was released after posting a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on July 5th.

On June 16th at approximately 11:30p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Church Street on the report of a head-on collision, involving a motorcycle.
Investigation revealed that a 25 year-old New Hampshire man was traveling on his motorcycle, northbound on Dixwell Avenue. His motorcycle was struck, head-on, by a vehicle, which was operated by Peter Oddo Jr. of Hamden. Investigation further revealed that Oddo crossed into the northbound lane.
Officers had Oddo perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was subsequently arrested.
The 25 year-old New Hampshire resident was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.

On June 15th at approximately 1:00a.m. Officer Gregg Curran of the Hamden Police Department observed a suspicious motor vehicle parked in the front of Supplement King, 1423 Dixwell Avenue. In March 2011, Hamden Police had investigated an armed robbery there.
The operator of the vehicle, Raymond O’Connell, is the owner of Supplement King. Investigation led to the search of O’Connell and his vehicle. Officers seized 3.5 grams of Oxycotin, a small quantity of Suboxane, 7 - 50mg Stanozolo pills (anabolic steroids), hypodermic needles and $2,919.00. O’Connell was subsequently arrested.

On June 12th at approximately 1:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to Dunn’s Pub, 2345 Whitney Avenue on the report of an assault.
Investigation revealed that a patron, identified as Kenneth Paecht, became involved in a verbal dispute with a female bartender. Paecht allegedly used vulgar expletives towards her. She subsequently refused to serve him. Paecht then allegedly threw 2 bar glasses at her, the first one, striking her in the forehead. The second glass did not strike her, however, it damaged approximately $100 in glassware.
Officers located Paecht, who was sitting on the stairs of an adjacent building. He was immediately arrested.
The bartender suffered a head injury.

The individual demanded their belongings. They subsequently provided him with their cell phone.

On June 8th at approximately 9:00a.m. Hamden Police responded to the 200 block of Ridge Road on the report of a rollover.
Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle, which was operated by a New Haven resident, was traveling northbound on Ridge Road. The operator advised police that he lost control of his vehicle, due to the sun. The vehicle subsequently struck a utility pole and then rolled over, landing on its roof.
The operator of the vehicle and his 7 year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. They were both transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment. Their names are not being released pending notification of their family.
The accident is under investigation.

On June 8th at approximately 1:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Albert Road on the report of an individual breaking into motor vehicles.
Upon arrival, Officer Jason Venditto observed an individual looking into a vehicle. The individual subsequently fled on foot.
Officer Venditto, and his K-9 partner “Titan” immediately attempted to track the individual. The track led them from Albert Road, to Wintergreen Avenue, to Brook Street. The individual, who was identified as Joseph Civitelli, was located lying on the ground, near a basement door on Brook Street. Civitelli, who fought with officers, was subsequently arrested.
Hamden Police arrested:
Joseph Civitelli, 21, of 23 Alenier Street, Hamden. He was charged with 2 counts of Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Larceny in the 6th Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, Simple Trespass and Interfering With a Police Officer. Civitelli, who was detained at police headquarters on a $2,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on June 21st.

On May 4th during the early morning hours, Hamden Police met with a 21 year-old Mather Street resident at police headquarters.
Investigation revealed that the complainant’s boyfriend, Robert Piscitelli, entered her residence through an unlocked door. Piscitelli then allegedly choked and assaulted her. As she attempted to contact police, he broke the telephone.
Further investigation revealed that Piscitelli forced the complainant to drive him first to Wal-Mart and then to Fair Haven. She was allegedly assaulted throughout the ordeal. As Piscitelli exited the vehicle, she was able to escape in the vehicle.
The complainant suffered injuries to her head, arms and legs.
Later in the day, Hamden Officers located Piscitelli at his residence, 367 Hartford Turnpike. He was promptly arrested.
Hamden Police arrested:
Robert Piscitelli, 29, of 367 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden. He was charged with Kidnapping in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 2nd Degree, Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Breach of Peace and Interfering With a 911 Call. Piscitelli, who was detained at police headquarters on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden today.

On May 31st members of the United States Marshal Service Connecticut Violent Task Force arrested Ryan Hettrick at his place of employment in Meriden.
Hettrick was arrested based on an investigation conducted by a Special Agent of the United States Homeland Security Investigations. An arrest warrant was submitted to and issued by Meriden Superior Court. Hettrick was transported to Hamden Police headquarters. Ryan Hettrick, 22, of 1027 Old Colony Road, Apartment 32 in Meriden, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Importing Child Pornography. He was detained at Hamden Police headquarters on a $100,000 bond. Hettrick is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on June 7th. Detective Raymond Quinn, a Hamden Police Detective, who is assigned to the USMS Ct. Violent Fugitive Task Force, assisted in the arrest.
