Stolen Vehicle Recovered, 2 arrested after pursuit.

On 03/04/08 at 2:12 pm Officer John Battick observed a 1997 Honda Accord, Ct. 921 HNA, traveling on Waite Street. Officer Battick began following the Honda, as this Department has seen several Honda vehicles solen in the last several weeks. Officer Battick discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of New Haven. Officer Battick attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on the Honda on Whitney Avenue near Servoss Street, however, the Honda and its 2 occupants sped away southbound on Whitney Avenue and refused to pull over. The Honda was involved in a motor vehicle accident shortly after at Whitney Avenue and Armory Street. The operator then fled from the vehicle and jumped over a fence near the Eli Whitney Museum. After a foot pursuit Officer Battick, along with assigned K-9 partner, 'Cesare', apprehended the operator, George Padilla. That the second occupant of the vehicle, Stephanie Allis, of 76 Second Street, Hamden, Ct., was treated by the Hamden Fire Department for minor injuries sustained in the accident. She was not charged.

Charges:
Padilla-Reckless Driving, Engaging Officer in Pursuit, Larceny 2nd Degree, Interfering with a Police Officer.

Bond:
Padilla- $25,000.00. Court Date- 03/17/08.
