The Hamden Police Department has been selected to receive a Justice Assistance Grant from the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. This program is intended to allow states and local governments to support a wide range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system. 

    

The Town of Hamden was awarded $20,879.00. The Hamden Police Department is applying to utilize these funds to purchase a new Automated Law Enforcement Scheduling and Notification System. The current Police Department roster and staffing procedures are performed manually, prone to error, open to subjectivity, and lacking in analysis and forcasting capabilities for budgeting and scheduling. This new system will allow the Hamden Police Department to automate and computerize the scheduling and hiring process of all staff members and eliminate this labor-intensive and time-consuming process.
