VETERANS:
Discharge must be recorded in Town Clerk’s Office by October 1.
Disabled Veteran’s amount of exemption based on percent of disability.
Exemption maintained for widows/widowers.
STATE EXEMPTION (VETERANS):
Discharge must be recorded in Town Clerk’s Office.

LOCAL EXEMPTION (VETERANS):

LOCAL EXEMPTION FOR SPECIALLY EQUIPPED VEHICLE
Amount of exemption = 100% of assessed vehicle value.
Filing period: February 1 – November 1.
Application filed annually.
Vehicle inspection made by Assessor or medical documentation must be provided.
If disabled veteran discharge must be recorded in Town Clerk's Office by October 1.
TOTALLY DISABLED EXEMPTION
Applicant must submit proof of being 100% totally and permanently disabled.
Amount of exemption = $1,000.
Deadline for filing is January 31.
No age limit.
One time application, exemption ends at time of death.
Note:
Disabled persons may also qualify for Elderly Homeowner's benefits.

File certificate of blindness.
Amount of exemption = $3,000.
Filing period: by January 31.
One time application, exemption ends at time of death.
LOCAL EXEMPTION (BLIND)
*Income requirement
Amount of exemption = $2,000.
Application filed annually.
Filing period: February 1 – October 1.
ELDERLY HOMEOWNERS PROGRAM
*Income requirement. Must provide Income Tax Return if filed.
Must be 65 years of age or over, or totally disabled.
Must live in the house to which the benefit is to be applied.
Benefit is determined by income amount.
Filing period: February 1 – May 15.
Application filed biennially.
Widow/widowers age 50 and over eligible to maintain benefit. The Town also provides an additional credit annually for taxpayers who qualify for the State elderly program; no separate application is necessary.
