The Department provides educational, recreational and social services to Hamden residents of all ages to give them the assistance and support necessary to function independently as productive members of the community. Through intensive case management services we meet the basic needs of families by providing them with food, fuel shelter, emergency services, relocation assistance, employment services, and prevent evictions, foreclosures, and utility shutoffs. We also coordinate activities at the Keefe Center to provide additional support services to Hamden families in need, including medical services, life skills, basic education and bring arts and recreation enrichment programs into the Community. All spaces at the Keefe Center is scheduled through this department.
The office and all services are provided by four department members located at the Keefe Community Center.
