Hamden has nine elementary schools (grades K-6), one middle school (grades 7-8), and one high school (grades 9-12). Hamden students selected by lottery also attend Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (grades K-8).

The Hamden Library provides and promotes access to highly responsive library service, relevant library materials, information sources nationwide. The Library also offers a variety of cultural, recreational and educational opportunities for the entire Hamden community.
