New Business Assistance Center Opens to Help Small Businesses

There will be a new resource in the Town of Hamden for people who are seeking to open or expand a business of their own. That resource is the Business Assistance Center. This program will be a cooperative effort between the Town of Hamden, Quinnipiac University, the Hamden Chamber of Commerce and other local and statewide organizations.

The Business Assistance Center (BAC) will offer free general seminars along with a (fee based) Business Certification Program, in such fields as writing business plans, performing cash flow analysis, personnel and human resource planning, marketing, and assistance with financing. Students from the Quinnipiac University School of Business will be assisting with the BAC in addition to other organization such as the Hamden Chamber of Commerce and Connecticut Minority Supply Development Council.

As well, other organizations such as the Hamden Chamber of Commerce and the Connecticut Minority Supply Development Council (MSDC) will provide specific services to the participating individuals or firms. The Chamber of Commerce will provide business to business and marketing services such as accounting, legal, website, etc. The MSDC will provide access to bidding and finance opportunities to minority owned businesses.

To administer this program, Richard Pearce of Evolution Enterprises, has been hired by the Town to act as the coordinator between the people seeking the services and the Technical Assistance Providers.

For more information regarding the seminars, classes, and assistance contact Dale Kroop at (203) 287-7030 or at twn.hmdn.edc@snet.net.
