Fine Boutique Opens on Whitney Avenue

On November 5, 2004, MATISTE A Boutique for Men & Women opened on 3308 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, CT. This is the first boutique for sisters Tina and Stefania Pellegrino and Maria De Vivo. Tina Pellegrino is the designer of the DUCA DI MATISTE line of Italian leather handbags, shoes, belts, wallets and fine Italian sterling silver jewelry. All of the items sold in the store are manufactured in Italy. The name MATISTE originated from a combination of the sisters first names. All the jewelry sold at the boutique ranges from $15 to $100 and the leather goods sell between $100 to $500. All designs in the boutique are produced in small quantities therefore maintaining a new inventory every season.

Sisters Tina, Maria and Stefania raised in North Haven are all graduates of Sacred Heart Academy of Hamden and Quinnipiac University, where Stefania is a senior. The sisters opened the boutique in order to maintain their ties to their parents’ country of origin while offering the hometown region a unique place to shop.

The hours for Matiste are Monday through Wedsnesday 10-6, Thrusday 10-8 and Friday/Saturday, 10-6. The phone number is 288-7649.
