FINANCE DIRECTOR
Finance Director Job Description 

The Town of Hamden is looking for a Finance Director with a high level of integrity and capable of garnering the trust and respect of elected officials, Town Staff, and Town residents.

This administrative work involves the direction of a very broad range of municipal finance functions. Responsibilities include accounting, investing, municipal auditing, closing of the books, bonding capital projects, preparation and submission of the Mayor’s budget, assessment, tax collection and purchasing functions.

The Town is seeking someone who is committed to creating a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and trust throughout the organization. The Finance Director must be a strong leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and will work to instill ethical decision-making, public responsiveness, and innovation in the delivery of services.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration or related field and 7 years of experience in financial management and 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.

Risk Manager

Risk Manager Job Description

The Town of Hamden is currently seeking a strong and experienced Risk Manager. The candidate must be self-motivated, results-driven, and possess the proven ability to work with people.

This is a highly responsible professional and administrative position involved in the planning, organizing, directing and administering a comprehensive Town risk management safety program. The Risk Manager will develop optimum alternatives for protecting Town assets, including but not limited to, the Town's self-insured health benefit program. This position requires considerable knowledge, skill and ability in health insurance plan design, managing claims, preparing Insurance applications, workers compensation, casualty and liability insurance, heart and hypertension and safety programs.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Insurance Administration or Public Administration or a related field is required.  The position also requires three (3) years of extensive professional experience in administering loss control and risk management programs, specifically self-insurance programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Associate Degree in Risk Management (ARM) preferred.
