Red Cross Certified Babysitting Training

This is two day training, designed for boys and girls ages 11 to 15. This course will give participants the tools they need to be responsible and safe caregivers.

The Red Cross Babysitting Training taught by certified instructor Beth Chiarillo, teaches skills in leadership, basic care, safety, and safe play as well as first aid. In addition, students will learn how to:

  • Supervise children and infants.
  • Perform basic child-care skills such as diapering and feeding.
  • Choose age-appropriate games and toys.
  • Handle bedtime and discipline issues.
  • Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries.
  • Care for common injuries and emergencies such as choking, burns, cuts and bee stings.
  • Make good decisions.
  • Find and interview for babysitting jobs.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a Red Cross Certificate.

Registration Fee: (includes Babysitter’s Training handbook and certificate)

Hamden residents: $60

Youth Center members: $40

Non-residents: $70
