School Nurse Job Description

The Hamden Board of Education has an opening for a School Nurse.  This is a full-time assignment, in accordance with the academic calendar. The RN will be responsible for providing leadership to the school’s health services and will serve as a liaison to building and/or district administrators.

1. Registered Professional Nurse designated R.N. and currently licensed in the state of Connecticut.

2. Completed one (1) year of full-time work experience during the last three (3) years in one of the following settings; pediatrics, hospital emergency, public health or school nursing.

3. CPR certification or completion of such certification prior to the first day of employment as a school nurse.

4.  Passing a background check.

This administrative work involves the direction of a very broad range of municipal finance functions. Responsibilities include accounting, investing, municipal auditing, closing of the books, bonding capital projects, preparation and submission of the Mayor’s budget, assessment, tax collection and purchasing functions.

The Town is seeking someone who is committed to creating a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and trust throughout the organization. The Finance Director must be a strong leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and will work to instill ethical decision-making, public responsiveness, and innovation in the delivery of services.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business/public administration or related field and 7 years of experience in financial management and 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
