Food Pantry

Eligibility

The Hamden food bank is open to Hamden residents who qualify. Call 203-562-5129 for eligibility. You will be required to provide proof or residency and family size.

Pet Food

Those eligible to get food for their family can also receive food for their cat or dog.

Food Stamps

We do not provide food stamps. For a food stamps application contact the Department of Social Services at 203-974-8414.

Brochures

Some ongoing food donations we ask for and other toiletries/household products
  • 100% fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, instant potatoes, 
  • Meats, fish and protein canned tuna, ham or chicken, beef stew, chili, peanut butter, canned/dried beans, 
  • Complete meals pasta & canned sauce, boxed meals, hearty soups, 
  • Personal care products, shampoo, deodorant, soap, diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene, toothpaste,
  • Cleaning supplies laundry detergent, paper towels, kitchen and bathroom cleaners.

  • Canned carrots, corn, green beans, peas and yams

  • Stuffing Mix

If you or anyone prefers  making a monetary donation:
Here are three options:
  1. The check can be written out to Community Services, in the memo section  you can put Gift Fund that way it can be used for either food or toys.                
  2. The check can be written out to Hamden Food Bank that will strictly go into the food bank account.
  3. If the check is written out to Community Services in the memo section ( you can put Gift Fund/Food Bank or Gift Fund/Toy Drive).
