Welcome to Brooksvale Park!

brooksvalepondview

Brooksvale Park is a 500 acre public park owned and operated by the town of Hamden, CT.  Brooksvale is a farm inspired park that includes farm animals, an organic vegetable/herb garden, a sugar shack for boiling maple syrup, a bee apiary, fields for recreational use, and  hiking trails.  The Picnic Pavilion is available to rent from May thru October.     (send an email if interested)

Park staff offer the annual Camp Brooksvale summer day camp, educational programs, and the Brooksvale Fall Festival.  The Friends of Brooksvale contribute year round, and present Maple Sugaring Day and the annual Wreath Making Workshop.

The Barnyard is a wonderful place to visit, and the staff works hard to keep it safe for the animals and visitors.  BARNYARD RULES-- Absolutely NO FEEDING of our animals.  Also, adults and group leaders please monitor kids closely in the Barnyard--Thank you!  The animals live at the Park year round and create a real farm atmosphere that children and adults enjoy. The public is able to interact with the animals if they choose in a respectful manner (observe signage)  The animals are also involved in the camp programs, as children learn about animal husbandry and agriculture.

During the warmer months, the adjacent farm garden is up and running. School children, campers, and visitors can walk through the garden and learn about organic farming. During the colder months the Park focuses on maple sugaring, teaching visitors and school children about the process of boiling sap and tapping our sugar maple trees.

You'll find more information about the history of the park, the barnyard, the garden, and other amazing things the Park has to offer in the main menu. Thank you for visiting the park website and we hope to see you soon!
