The Hamden Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about Disaster Preparedness for hazards that may impact their neighborhood and teaches them the basic disaster response skills, such as Fire Safety & Suppression, Search & Rescue, CERT Team Organization, Terrorism Awareness, Disaster Psychology and Medical Triage and Treatment.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT Members can assist others in their locality or workplace following an incident when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Students are also instructed in how to handle every day emergencies at home or in their neighborhood.
