LEGAL NOTICE TO HAMDEN TAXPAYERS
The first installment of taxes levied on the Grand List of October 1, 2019 is due and payable July 1, 2020.
If these taxes are not paid on or before October 1, 2020 (exclusions apply), they will be subject to interest at the rate of 1 1/2% per month or fraction thereof from the due date of July 1, 2020 to the date the tax installment is paid. The minimum interest charge is $2.00. The Town has approved a resolution to implement a Deferment Program for taxpayers, which extends the grace period to October 1, 2020. This does NOT apply to escrow payments, per the Governor’s Executive Order. Escrow payments must still be paid by 8/3/2020, to avoid interest. This extended grace period does NOT apply to Landlords, unless they have applied for the deferment program and their application has been approved. Landlords must otherwise pay by 8/3/2020.
These taxes become delinquent October 2, 2020 (exclusions apply). Escrowed accounts will become delinquent on August 4, 2020. Landlords who have not applied and been approved for the Deferment Program will become delinquent on August 4, 2020. In accordance with a Town Ordinance, all delinquent motor vehicle taxes requiring a release for motor vehicle registration must be paid by cash, certified check or money order.
Taxes will be received at the Office of the Tax Collector, Hamden Government Center,
2750 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Taxes may be paid online at www.hamden.com using an E-Check, or debit or credit card. Convenience fees apply. We encourage you to pay by mail or online. A new outside drop box is also now available.
This is subject to change to conform to the latest Public Acts, General Statutes and local ordinances.
