[ARCHIVED] Hamden’s Warming Center at Keefe Open Saturday

Hamden’s Warming Center at Keefe Open Saturday

HamdenHamden Warming Center: Keefe Community Center, 203-562-5129, 11 Pine St., Hamden 06514 (please enter through the George St. parking lot)

The Hamden Warming Center will be open all day Saturday, January 29th in response to the inclement weather.

The Hamden Warming Center will open this evening at 7:00pm, and will remain open through Sunday January 30th at 7:00am.

The Hamden Warming Center is stationed at the Keefe Community Center Gym, located at 11 Pine St in Hamden. Please enter through the George Street parking lot, located at 19 George St.

The Warming Center is staffed with experienced volunteers who monitor overnight shifts and share community outreach information with our guests. The warming center is not a “shelter”, as no beds are provided. It is a clean, safe, indoor overnight space to protect those in-need from harsh weather conditions for those who would likely otherwise spend their nights outdoors. Hamden Police provide walk-throughs on a nightly basis.

Residents wishing to contribute to the warming center may do so by donating items such as non-perishable, pre-wrapped snack food items and beverages. Donations of new socks, new underwear, gloves, and hats are also welcome.

Donations can be dropped off at the Keefe Community Center (11 Pine Street, Hamden) between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm by appointment.

For further information, please contact Community Services Coordinator, Y’Isiah Lopes, at (203) 562-5129 ext. 1111 or by email at ylopes@hamden.com.
