Hamden Announces Closures, Parking Ban due to Inclement Weather

Hamden – Town officials would like to make residents aware of the following changes due to the anticipated inclement weather for Friday, February 25th:

Town Buildings Closure

Mayor Lauren Garrett has directed all Town buildings, including the Keefe Community Center, be closed to the public on Friday, February 25, 2022. All non-essential employees are asked to work from home.

Staff will remain available via phone and email to provide services remotely, and we continue to encourage the public to take advantage of our remote service options whenever possible. Many functions can be performed remotely, both quickly and easily, without coming to the office.

Town officials have issued a parking ban for the Town of Hamden, effective Friday, February 25th, 2022 at 12:00AM midnight until further notice. This ban is being declared pursuant to Section 71.03 of the Code of the Town of Hamden. The parking ban prohibits any person to park, or allow to remain parked, any vehicle on any odd numbered portion of a town street or highway.

The ban further prohibits any person to allow or permit a vehicle to stand or park on any Town street or highway in such a manner as to constitute a hazard or obstruction to vehicular or pedestrian traffic. The Hamden Police Department is authorized, pursuant to Section 71.07 of the Code of the Town of Hamden, to remove any vehicle parked in violation of this ordinance. Such removal shall be at the risk and expense of the owner of the vehicle.
