Memorial Day Parade “Thank You” From Hamden’s Veterans Commission
Hamden – Hamden’s Veterans Commission would like to thank all those who participated and contributed to the success of this year’s Memorial Day Parade and the Remembrance Ceremony at Hamden Middle School.
The events of the morning have always brought a sense of community to our town as we remember the sacrifices, past and present, of our residents who paid the ultimate price in defending our freedoms. This is a town wide planning effort that begins mid-winter and involves several town departments as well as the State of Connecticut.
A special thank you to Hamden’s Administration, and the Police, Fire, Traffic, Public Works, and Parks departments. Kudos to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that provided coordination of parade units and traffic flow at Hamden Middle School.
To further commemorate the significance of the weekend, the Veterans Commission, along with numerous resident volunteers and Boy and Girl Scout Troops, placed over 1500 flags at eight cemeteries in town. These flags were purchased because of the generosity of Beecher and Bennett and Sisk Brothers funeral homes. Thank you for your continued annual support of this event.
We look forward to seeing everyone in 2023 for our 85th annual Memorial Day Parade.
