Paint Hamden Pink’s Breast Cancer Awareness Kickoff
Wednesday, September 27th at Town Center Park
Hamden – On Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 5PM, the Paint Hamden Pink Committee will sponsor a kickoff for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. The event will be held at the Garden of Hope and Reflection at Hamden Town Center Park (near the red barn). Parking is available in the Miller Cultural Complex, located at 2901 Dixwell Avenue. The rain date for the event will be Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 5PM.
News 8’s Laura Hutchinson will serve as MC and the public is invited to attend. The mission of the Paint Hamden Pink Committee is to spread the word that early detection of breast cancer is the key to saving lives.
Hamden’s Garden of Hope and Reflection is a special place for those in need of peace – a place to remember those who have passed due to breast cancer, to honor those who have survived breast cancer and to recognize the importance of supportive caregivers. Last year a granite bench was donated to the Garden of Hope and Reflection and this year signage will be added to the garden - a piece of Stony Creek granite with a bronze plaque.
Paint Hamden Pink began six years ago and is made up of volunteers who came together to provide hope, awareness and support to those in the Hamden community whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Due to the support of more than 140 Hamden businesses, places of worship, schools, the Hamden Fire and Police Departments, and the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce, Paint Hamden Pink raised over $40,000 for Making Strides against Breast Cancer.
The committee encourages anyone interested in making a contribution to donate to a breast cancer group of your choice.
