[ARCHIVED] Hamden Equity & Inclusivity Task Force Announces First Community Listening Session

Tuesday, February 18th, 7:00pm 

at Hamden High School, Room C-107 

Hamden – Mayor Curt Balzano Leng is pleased to announce that the newly created Hamden Equity & Inclusivity Task Force has announced its first Community Listening Session, a reschedule of the event which was originally scheduled to occur on Thursday, February 13th, 2020. The event will now take place Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 at 7:00pm inside room C-107 at the Hamden High School (2040 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06514). All members of the public are encouraged to attend, and light refreshments will be available. (Entrance to room C-107 is located on the Merritt-Parkway side of HHS)

This initial event will be the first of many meetings, trainings, community discussions and break-off groups, and will include participating representatives from the following organizations:

  • Quinnipiac University
  • Albertus Magnus College
  • Greater New Haven NAACP
  • CONECT (Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut)
  • Racial & Ethnic Disparities Committee (RED)
  • Anti-Defamation League
  • Born Rich Foundation
  • Hamden Human Rights & Relations Commission
  • Mothers Demand Action Against Gun Violence
  • Action Together Connecticut
  • Hamden Legends Committee
  • Hamden Human Resources & Affirmative Action Officer
  • Hamden Mayor’s Office, with liaison participation from the Legislative Council & Board of Education

Commenting, Mayor Leng said, “I very much look forward to engaging with you all and really listening to every one of our community residents who have experiences, ideas, concerns and suggestions. I want to again apologize for the mistake regarding the originally scheduled meeting, and look to assure the importance of equity in our community with the immensely strong group of stakeholders assembled, all truly committed to being active participants in this major effort.”
