Hamden Art League Returns to In Person Meetings with Presentation Tuesday, September 14, 2021 by CT Visual Artist/Photographer Agnes Wnuk

The Hamden Art League is very pleased to announce our return to in-person meetings for our 2021-2022 season, with the COVID precautions listed below. We invite both our members and the general public to join us on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 7:00 pm for a visit/demo by Connecticut Visual Artist and Photographer Agnes Wnuk. In her presentation, “Easy Sketch-Booking Techniques", she will sketch one of her favorite subjects using watercolors and pens, and she’ll demonstrate some easy techniques and tips, especially direct watercolor and contour drawing. Ms. Wnuk will show and explain the difference between sketchbooks done in the field and those done at home, and discuss which tools she uses and why. In the past four years she has filled thirty sketchbooks!

Inspired by a lifelong love and career in the fine arts, Agnes Wnuk continues to explore the use of oils, watercolors, pen and ink, colored pencils, and pastels, as well as the practice of urban sketching, and most recently, the creative elements within photography. A resident of Cheshire, Connecticut, Agnes has sketched on location and photographed in and around the Caribbean and Europe, as well as throughout New England, New York State and Colorado. She took part in the annual Urban Sketchers Symposium in Amsterdam in July, 2019, completing an entire sketchbook during a week long excursion.

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Museology/Museum Studies, Ms. Wnuk works now as a freelance visual artist and photographer. She has also taught workshops/given demos and/or volunteered for Cheshire Adult Education, Artsplace in Cheshire, Ball & Socket Arts in Cheshire, the Cheshire Art League, Arts Escape in Southbury, and the the Manchester Art Association. In addition to her one person “Collection of Photography” exhibition which just closed in the Mill River Art Gallery in Hamden, Ms. Wnuk’s photographic and visual art works have most recently been in The West Hartford Art League "CT+6 Juried Exhibition", and in other juried shows at The Salmagundi Club of New York, The Art League of New Britain, The Mystic Museum of Art, The Rowayton Art Center, The Gallery at Trinity Lime Rock, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts Annual Exhibition, and The New Britain Museum of American Art "Nor'Easter: Annual Juried Exhibition". Ms. Wnuk’s works have garnered many awards and honorable mentions.

All of the meetings of the Hamden Art League will be held in the Social Hall of the Hamden Senior Center, with parking and entrance in the back of the Miller Memorial Library Complex, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. We will be meeting with masks and social distancing, and we will not be offering our usual food and beverages. We will have to sign in and give a phone number, in case we need to do any contact tracing. For more information on the Hamden Art League please visit our website,, or call (203) 287-1322
