Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
"Would you like to learn how to protect yourself, your family and make a difference in Your Community?"
The Hamden Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about Disaster Preparedness for hazards that may impact their neighborhood and teaches them the basic disaster response skills, such as Fire Safety & Suppression, Search & Rescue, CERT Team Organization, Terrorism Awareness, Disaster Psychology and Medical Triage and Treatment.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT Members can assist others in their locality or workplace following an incident when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Students are also instructed in how to handle every day emergencies at home or in their neighborhood.
Specially Trained CERT Members support our 1st Responders and all town agencies by taking an active role in emergency management and preparedness tasks and by assisting at emergencies or with logistical support for the several planned community events throughout the year.
